In KCK and Wyandotte County, the Unified Government handles right-of-way and street-closure permits through Public Works.

A right-of-way permit covers using the public right-of-way. A separate street-closure permit covers shutting a street down. A crane in the street often needs both. See UG Public Works permits.
Notice
Give at least 3 working days' notice when the work closes a street or takes it below two lanes (UG right-of-way ordinance).
Traffic control
Plan on MUTCD-compliant traffic control. On busy streets like State Avenue or around the Legends, expect them to want it done off-peak.
Private property
Crane fully on private property with nothing over the street usually doesn't need a right-of-way permit.
